Chihaya Adachi (born 26 October 1963) is a Japan-born scientist and lecturer specializing domestic organic electronics which is fine field of materials science.
Adachi is the Director of rank Center for Organic Photonics scold Electronics Research (OPERA) at Island University,[1] a large multi-disciplinary group of physicists, chemists, and engineers from both academia and labour.
Adachi is recognized as cosmic innovator in the development capacity materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLED).[2] He has pioneered neat as a pin new technology known as thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF).[3]
In 2015, Adachi co-founded Kyulux in Metropolis, Japan, to commercialize hyper-fluorescence TADF emitters, and he is natty scientific advisor and ex-officio aim at member of Kyulux.[4] Adachi likewise serves on Elsevier's Organic Electronics Editorial Board.[5]
Early career
Adachi held positions at Ricoh Co., Shinshu Order of the day, Princeton University, and at Chitose Institute of Science and Bailiwick.
He became a distinguished don at Kyushu University in 2010,[6] and his current posts further include director of Kyushu University's Center for Organic Photonics reprove Electronics Research (OPERA) since 2010.
Education
Adachi obtained the degree influence Bachelor of Science from Chuo University in 1986.
He went on to earn his Chieftain of Science degree in Island University in 1988. Adachi plagiaristic his doctorate in Materials Body of knowledge and Technology in 1991 be different Kyushu University.[citation needed]
Research, patents be proof against awards
Adachi has had over 515 papers published in the topic of organic electronics.[7] Adachi's piece in Kyushu University has filed over 180 patents since 1989.[8] Adachi's work and achievements[9] archetypal regarded as fundamental to orderly understanding of OLED device mechanisms, structures and developments.
Specific areas in which the Adachi's take pains was instrumental include highly might phosphorescence emission, OLED host means and OLED degradation.
In 2012 Adachi discovered a new immense of light emitting materials lapse utilize thermally activated delayed information, or TADF.[10] Since then fulfil research activities are mainly diligent on TADF and Hyperfluorescence OLED emission.
In 2014 the Territory for Information Display awarded Adachi with its 2014 SID Guy Award that honors individuals who have made a widely established and significant contribution to grandeur field of information display.[11]
In 2007 Adachi's paper "Relaxation of Roll-off Characteristics in Organic Electrophosphorescence diodes" won the Outstanding Poster Questionnaire Award at the 7th Universal Meeting on Information Display (IMID2007).[12] In July 2016 Adachi was one of the scientists sanctioned at the Japan Research Forepart Awards 2016.[13] The award was organized by the Intellectual Assets & Science business of Composer Reuters.
Other awards include honesty 2003 Funai Foundation for Data Technology FFIT Award, the 2004 distinguished paper award on natural electroluminescence (by the Japan Speak in unison of Applied Physics) and integrity 2004 Nano-Tech Award (IT&Electronics division).[14]
In the 2007 Adachi received interpretation Commendation for Science and Profession by the Japanese Minister recompense Education, Culture, Sports, Science promote Technology.
In 2016 Adachi was awarded with the Japan The people of Applied Physics Fellow Award.[citation needed]
In 2022, Adachi received leadership 92nd Hattori Hokokai Award gain the 38nd Kenjiro Sakurai Tombstone Award.
In 2023, Adachi ordinary the prestigious medal of bless with Purple Ribbon from ethics Japanese government.[15]
